When Christian Science was presented to me ten years...
When Christian Science was presented to me ten years ago, I had been ill for over three months with what a specialist diagnosed as acute liver trouble affecting the diaphragm and the lungs. During this time I was under the care of two doctors and a specialist. Although after treatment by a specialist I was able to return to work, I was feeling far from well.
Shortly after I returned to work, a friend lent my wife a copy of the Christian Science textbook. As I read this book, I realized that it indeed presented the truth for which I had been seeking. Work had not been resumed very long, however, before the old complaint manifested itself and attacked me with increased severity. When I arrived home one evening in intense pain, my wife inquired what she should do. I told her to go to the friend who had lent us the textbook. This friend, who lived quite near, quickly put us in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, who at once took up my case. For more than twenty-four hours, a period which appeared to me very much longer, I was in agony, but finally I fell asleep and slept without disturbance for nearly twelve hours, the best sleep I had enjoyed for months. When I awoke the next morning I was entirely healed. I arose, dressed myself, partook of a good breakfast, and proceeded to my place of business. It seemed to me that a miracle had taken place, for during my illness I had taken but little food and had never really enjoyed what I did have.
Since this healing there has been no return of the trouble; and in the interim my family and I have been able to rejoice in other healings, of colds, influenza, whooping cough, nervous troubles, and a sprained ankle. We have also had numerous instances of protection through the realization of ever present divine Love.
