Recently while completing some knitting which required very close, steady work, I became aware of the fact that though my eyes were completely healed over fourteen years ago, I had never written a testimony for the Christian Science periodicals. My eyes had been examined by two specialists, and I had been told that the condition was such that no permanent help could be given; that I should immediately give up my position, which required close book work; should not attend moving picture shows or read; and that the condition would grow worse gradually and eventually terminate in blindness. I was very much discouraged, for I believed that what they were telling me was true, as I had had a severe case of measles some time before, and this condition was diagnosed as resulting from that illness.

I was rooming where there were a number of other young folk, and one young man, after hearing of this report of the doctors, told me not to become discouraged, that he would like to have me attend a Christian Science lecture with him the following evening. Although I was prejudiced against what I believed the teaching of Christian Science to be, his approach was so gentle and his words of encouragement were so helpful, that I agreed to accompany him to the lecture. I was very much impressed with the logic of the speaker's text, and the happy, intelligent countenances of those I saw at the lecture. The following Wednesday I attended a testimony meeting with him and was again impressed with the logic and sincerity of each speaker. At my request a copy of Science and Health was lent me, and the next evening I called at the home of a Science practitioner and asked for help. In less than two weeks I was completely and permanently healed. I have continued working, and have read more than ever before because of my desire to learn more of this beautiful truth.

For this first healing and the many others that have followed which are too numerous to relate at this time, I am profoundly grateful. Every phase of error in my home has been overcome, and each trial has been the means of growth out of a sense of material life into one of spiritual reality. I can never express enough gratitude for our Leader, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for all the Christian Science periodicals. —(Mrs.) Florence Pellett Soutiea, St. Louis County, Missouri.
