Prayer

I Long to live in that high secret place
Where I may grow in gentleness and grace;
And where I may transcend all mortal thought,
Seeking God's verities, and fearing not

To give the cup of water in His name,
To help the sinner rise above his shame.
I long to be what God would have me be,
And only good in all the world to see.

For He has blessed me over all my days,
In multitudes of dear and wondrous ways,
And I, reflecting but His love, would find
That love a blessing, too, to all mankind.

And so, in conscious unity with God,
I will rejoice in His dear chastening rod:
Yearning to aid my brothers in their quest,
I humbly ask how I may serve them best.
