I have received so many blessings since I took up the study of Christian Science five years ago that I wish to testify that during this time Christian Science has met my every need, whether the problem has been physical, mental, or financial. I should like to tell how I overcome the claim of unemployment nearly two years ago, in case my experience may be helpful to others having that problem to meet.
For some time I had been without permanent employment, when a Christian Science practitioner said to me in substance, "Don't you know that all real business consists of reflecting God, divine Mind?" He also told me to go out and give of the qualities I reflected. This remark changed my thought, and like the disciples I began to cast my net on the right side—into the realm of the real—and to see that my work was purely mental, expressing right ideas. In "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307) we read, "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." I set out to give of the wonderful gifts which we all have by reflection, and that day I was offered a permanent position. I know now that I shall never again be afraid to face this problem, because I can see that man has never been unemployed—that his only employment is the expression of right ideas, which activity is never ending.
I should also like to tell of a healing of a severe sore throat which I had about three years ago. My throat was very painful and seemed to be closing up, for I could swallow only with the utmost difficulty. I worked mentally about this condition right through the night, and the more painful it became the more I clung to and declared the truth, until about three o'clock in the morning, when the light of Truth dawned in my consciousness, and I realized that nothing could be added to God's image and likeness, and therefore there was nothing to heal. Suddenly the throbbing ceased, and I knew that I had been healed. I went to sleep and woke up well. I have also had instantaneous healings of colds and headaches.
