I desire to express my gratitude to God for His revelation of the truths of Christian Science to our dear Leader, and for her loving perseverance and patience in giving them to us in such form that they can never be lost.

In 1913 I began to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and I have never forgotten my joy at that time. It seemed, as indeed it was, the most wonderful thing that could come to me. I spent every spare moment reading and rereading those statements and rejoicing constantly that I had found the "pearl of great price."

I am the daughter of a clergyman and had been taught a liberal religion of love; and Christian Science seemed to me a glorious unfoldment of that which I had so dimly glimpsed, with the added assurance of physical healing. From childhood I had suffered from an intestinal disorder which had become chronic, and through which other distressing conditions had come upon me. I had found from long experience that material remedies and hygiene could not help me, and with great gladness I asked my mother to call for Christian Science help. I never saw or talked to the practitioner who treated me then, but I have always been grateful for the healing I received through her understanding of the power of God's Word, as revealed in Christian Science.
