Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Great Britain and Ireland.

Interest in Christian Science is aroused from time to time from sources outside our movement. An instance of this was found in an article contributed to a London newspaper by Mr. Beverley Nichols following a visit paid by him to a Wednesday evening meeting at one of our churches. Upon another occasion, an article appeared in a weekly review which, taking for its text Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 199 of Science and Health, "The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible," brought out that the word "honest" was emphasized by Mrs. Eddy as the condition necessary to success.

In the spring, a letter was received from the editor of a quarterly magazine entitled The Search, saying that as the present year is believed to be the nineteenth centenary of the crucifixion, he intended to bring out a special number dealing with Christ Jesus, and asking if the Christian Science Committee on Publication would contribute an article to be included with those supplied by writers of many varying religions. I was authorized to contribute the article requested.
