I became interested in Christian Science through reading...
I became interested in Christian Science through reading the Sentinel, a copy of which was sent to me by one who realized my need. The testimonies of healing awakened a desire to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I was so impressed by the happy faces in the audience, and by what I heard, that I returned the following week, and shortly afterward purchased a copy of Science and Health. As I read the book my interest continued, and the desire that my two youngest children might have the advantages of the Christian Science Sunday School was fulfilled. This was accomplished after a little time with the help of a practitioner.
Many healings have taken place in our home. Some were of influenza, diphtheria, insomnia, constipation, toothache, pains in the breast, bad habits, and fear. Severe earache was instantaneously healed by absent treatment. After suffering for three days and nights from an attack of inflammatory rheumatism, I was healed in two hours, also by absent treatment. Chills and high fever disappeared overnight. An extreme case of appendicitis was healed in a few hours, and there has been no return. A skin disease which caused considerable discomfort, and which seemed to be slow in yielding, was also finally healed.
While employed in a chemical laboratory, a member of the family had his eyes poisoned by fumes, one eye being completely blinded for several days. He was in another city at the time and called by long distance telephone for help from a practitioner. The next report was that he had slept some, but he asked that the good work be continued. After two days I telephoned and was informed that he was back at work and had been free from pain after the first twenty-four hours. Eventually sight returned also.
