This testimony is sent with the prayer that it may give courage and hope to some weary, despondent one suffering from chronic bronchitis and asthma. I was somewhat free from these ailments whilst on active service in Central Africa, but malarial fever and its complications brought on these diseases in a far more acute form. I spent some years in military hospitals, and the very best medical help was given me. The finest specialists, to whom I am grateful, did their best for me; the latest drugs, medicines, injections, and artificial sun-ray treatment were tried one after the other. Each appeared to relieve me, but left me more discouraged and heartsore as each remedy lost its so-called power and efficacy. It was a weary, hopeless struggle until Christian Science found me, apparently without a sound organ in my body, on what I believed to be my deathbed.

A few days previously I had been given a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but had read only a small portion when I was overtaken with a most severe attack, and what were regarded as the best drugs and medicines failed me. I was just conscious enough to understand when my wife proposed calling a Christian Science practitioner. I had no faith in Christian Science, but as nothing else could be done I decided to try this new treatment. The practitioner responded immediately to the call, and sat beside me for about two hours without saying anything, but later I learned what wonderful scientific work he had been doing; for suddenly warmth came to my limbs and breathing became natural. In a short while I was out of bed and about my business.

I was highly elated and overjoyed at this wonderful healing. From that moment I wanted to know what had healed me. Some three years and a half of faithful mental work finally saw me completely free from this long-standing disease. Glasses also have been laid aside, and today I enjoy normal eyesight. Nasal catarrh, hay fever, neuritis, and constipation likewise disappeared.
