Among the Churches

Current Notes

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Fifth Church).—The first unit of the church building being erected by Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, was opened on Sunday, March 12. It is less than four years since this church was organized to meet the needs of those resident in North Toronto.

The new structure, which provides for a church accommodation of about five hundred with additional facilities for holding Sunday school at the same hour as the morning service, will eventually be used for the Sunday school and the mechanical equipment sections of the church building. The cost of the completed structure, plans and working drawings of which are already completed, is estimated at one hundred and eighty-five thousand dollars.

On the opening Sunday, the only change from the regular practice was the including of an afternoon service in addition to the regular morning and evening services. The Lesson-Sermon for the day was that which was used on that date in all Christian Science churches throughout the world, and was entitled "Substance."—Daily Star.
