Christian Science came into our lives over five years ago, when all seemed bitter darkness, and when I had nearly lost faith in God, and in Christ Jesus and his teachings, although I had been raised in a strict orthodox church.

A friend, whom I remembered as a devout Christian Scientist and to whom I wrote for information about this Science, lovingly wrote me what I needed to know, and I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, also the Christian Science Quarterly, and started an earnest study of the textbook. I loved it deeply from the start.

We have had numerous healings through the application of this truth, but the greatest blessing I have received was a healing of grief over the sudden passing on of my beloved sister, which occurred seven years before we came into Christian Science. The shock gave me a nervous breakdown. For seven years I could not sing a single tune or play an instrument, as grief would overcome me each time I attempted it. When I first went to a Christian Science practitioner for the healing of stomach trouble I mentioned this grief to her, and she lovingly told me that the truth would make me free of this, too, and it did. All those years of grief were wiped out in one glorious moment. Oh, the joy, the happiness, of being able to sing again with a joyous heart! I felt like a slave freed from fetters.
