It is a wonderful privilege to be able to bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science. My healings have been many and varied, and I am happy to tell others of them.
When I was a child I had what was diagnosed as typhoid fever. At this time I was given so much medicine that I was blind for a day. After that my vision was so imparied that I could not see very far off at any time and at night only in a good light. For a few years a local oculist fitted me with glasses, but as the condition became worse, in 1912 I obtaiend the services of a specialist, who pronounced the condition a bad case of mixed astigmatism. After that I had to wear glasses until 1931.
In 1918 my sister was healed of mastoiditis through Christian Science, and it was in this way I became acquainted with this wonderful healing truth. Although I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I did not understand it, until in 1928 I went to Chicago and procured the help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner who helped me through a trying physical condition which had prevented my activity in the business world. Under the counsel of this practitioner I took a more serious and active interest in Christian Science, devoting every spare minute to the study of Science and Health and other works by Mrs. Eddy, and of the Bible. After two years of pursuing this course I found my eyes to be so much improved that I could dispense with the glasses for a time, but error crept in and I resumed them for almost a year. During class instruction in July, 1931, they became so very unsatisfactory that I removed them, and since that time there has been no further use for them, as I can now read the finest print with ease. Also objects that I have never seen before are now quite plain.
