About two years ago I fell and ran a piece of wood into my hand, and a portion of the wood five eighths of an inch long and one eighth of an inch thick broke off and remaiend deep in the hand. About a month after this I went to a local surgeon to have the wood removed, but without success. After an interval of about three months I again had the hand operated on, with the same result. This time the surgeon stated that the wood was embedded in the cords of the hand in such a manner that it would be very difficult to remove it without the danger of cutting a blood vessel.
This was the situation five months later when I attended a Christian Science lecture. The lecturer made it very clear that we are here only to express the ever present God. At the conclusion of the lecture, and just after we had started for home, I remarked to my wife that I could feel a piercing sensation in my hand; and it was with a feeling of awe that we realized the piece of wood was being dislodged without any material aid. It continued to force its way through the cords to the surface, attended by considerable bleeding. This was a beautiful experiece for us, as it strengthened us in the knowledge that there is only one power, and that by right thinking we can bring this power into our experience. I have also has other healings in Christian Science.
I wish to express my gratitude to the practitioners for the patient, loving work they have done for me, and for the work they are doing daily and hourly for humanity; also to those serving on The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, who are fulfilling Christ Jesus' command to Simon Peter, when he said, "Feed my sheep."
