Unfoldment

Let us think of each day as a flower
Unfolding in sunshine's warm light,
An opening bud in the morning,
A beautiful blossom at night.

The hours, like fairest-hued petals,
Unfolding in God's tender love,
Reflecting His beauty and goodness
In thoughts that come from above.

And, flowerlike, breathing out fragrance
To all who may come our glad way,
The Father's compassion and sweetness
Touching all that we do or say.

And when night's golden stars look downward
And soft, cooling dew fills the air,
May we see our day as a flower—
God's own, and divinely fair.
