Over seven years ago after many trials and ills, and after...
Over seven years ago after many trials and ills, and after one member of our family had had a very long, serious illness, we heard of Christian Science through friends and decided to try it. I went to see a practitioner and told her of our troubles and that we wanted to give this Science a fair trial. I have always been very grateful for having been led to this practitioner and for having come into Science in this way. I am also very thankful for a Christian Science nurse who was sent to us at this time.
Our coming out of the wilderness has been slow but truly marvelous as I look back and see what we have left behind. Our whole outlook on life has been changed. Three chests full of medicine were thrown out, and we have never used any material remedies since. We turn to Christian Science with all our problems. Colds, croup, mumps, measles, and many other ailments have been destroyed, and we have been wonderfully protected on motor trips. I am indeed grateful for all these proofs of God's omnipotence, and for a little understanding of God which has enabled me to demonstrate this truth for my family and myself.
Some time ago, while in a great hurry, I poured some boiling water over one of my hands instead of into a cup which I was holding. For an instant the pain was intense; but immediately came the words as if spoken, "Nothing shall by any means hurt you." I kept on with my household duties for about two hours with my hands often in hot dish water. When I had time to sit down and look at them I could not tell from the appearance which hand had been scalded.
