It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give this testimony, and also with the desire that it may help free someone from the fear of medical laws. We have nothing to fear from these so-called laws, as they are proved null and void in Christian Science. There is but one law, and that is the law of God, good.
Until I was grown up and healed in Christian Science I had never known a well day. When a baby of eighteen months I had double pneumonia. The doctors said I should never be well and never live to grow up. When I was eighteen years of age my father, who was a very successful physician and surgeon in Chicago, had me examined by six of the best doctors in the city. He then said to me with tears in his eyes, "My poor little girl, we have done all for you that medicine can do; you won't live long."
Two years after this, while living in a small town in Michigan, I decided to try Christian Science, as I was getting weaker every day and knew that I could not last much longer in this condition. Before having treatment I made the statement, "I know it will not do me any good, but I am positive it cannot do me any harm." After having six treatments I felt no better, but something told me to continue, and at the end of six weeks I was healed. Here I wish to say that this was the first time in my life that I had ever felt well enough to be glad I was alive. I began to see so many things to rejoice over which I had never seen before. It would be impossible to find anyone who has enjoyed better health than I have these many years. Christian Science has given me the peace "which passeth all understanding."
