The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA (First Church).

Lecturer: Richard J. Davis; introduced by Joseph Carl Markstein, who said:—

In the book of Acts is the story of a lame man who, at the gate of the temple "called Beautiful," was healed of his infirmity. This man, like so many today with an erroneous concept of substance, health, and supply, was seeking these in matter, not in God. Peter had learned from his discipleship with the Master something of the power of God, and so instead of material alms he offered to the sufferer the healing word of Truth. He said, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." The lame one obeyed and was healed.
