Over fifteen years ago Christian Science was introduced...
Over fifteen years ago Christian Science was introduced to me, and I attended a service the following Sunday. When I entered the church I was a very miserable woman and full of fear. But during the silent prayer that morning I was healed of fear and worry. It was a foretaste of heaven; such a peaceful feeling came over me, it was indeed "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding." I am grateful for this, as at that time I was a great sufferer. I had been having medical treatment for a number of years for anaemia, dyspepsia, and chest troubles, and was no better, but I am thankful to say that all these difficulties have been completely healed in Christian Science.
After the birth of our daughter I suffered from an internal displacement, for which I had to wear a support in order to be able to get about and do a little work. The doctor told me that I should always have to wear it, and that I should never be able to do any heavy work; but as I began to study Christian Science and to put into practice every day the little understanding I gained, I felt better and stronger and had less pain. One day the thought came to me, What am I wearing the support for, when God is the great Physician as we are taught in Christian Science and He is able to do all things? A few weeks after I had that thought, I left off the support, and eventually destroyed it and have not needed it since. This healing was rather slow, but it only made me firmer in the truth. During the subsequent thirteen years I have been able to do all my household duties, and walk miles, free from pain or any discordant condition.
About three years ago I had a broken wrist and a dislocated elbow and shoulder. These were healed in Christian Science without any medical attention or material remedies whatsoever, and I can use my hand and arm as well as ever I could. Our daughter has also been healed of acute double pneumonia, tuberculous abscess in the glands, and diphtheria; and my husband has been healed of the smoking habit of thirty years' standing.
