Over twenty-six years ago Christian Science came into our home when my father was healed of sciatic rheumatism. Shortly before this a census of different religious denominations had been compiled in our city, with the result that two atheists were listed. My mother said my father was one of the two. When he went to the practitioner for help he told her that he was not interested in her religion, but that if she could cure him, he would pay her. The practitioner took his case and my father was healed in just a few treatments. When he was healed, he went to the practitioner again and said to her, "You know something that I do not know; will you tell me what it is?" She lovingly explained to him a few points in Christian Science, with the result that he obtained a Bible, a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with a Christian Science Quarterly, and began a serious study of Christian Science. Since that healing no matter what problem has confronted us, a family of six, Christian Science has never failed us.

Some years ago I was employed in a department store in a small western town. One night the store was burned, throwing about a hundred people out of employment. There were only two good-sized stores in the city, and no apparent available space for our store to occupy. The outlook seemed hopeless. For myself fear was banished at the outset. "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you," were the reassuring, comforting words of Christ Jesus that kept repeating themselves to my consciousness. Within a week after the fire, the place prepared for me was made manifest, for I was offered a position in an office with a slight increase over my former salary. Since that time each step to a better position and a better salary has always made me grateful for the first fruits of an intelligent working knowledge of Truth as taught in Christian Science.

I have had many positive proofs of its healing power. Serious business difficulties have been satisfactorily adjusted. Dental work has been accomplished without pain; burns have been healed, leaving no scars; glasses have been laid aside; and with each added proof has come deeper gratitude and love for Mrs. Eddy and the wonderful truth of being she was able to present in a way that all might understand.
