I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessings...
I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life.
When my mother came to visit me in India, some four or five years ago, she gave me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. She told me of the great blessings which Christian Science had brought into her life, and how she was obtaining a new understanding of God. At this time, however, and for the next two years, I did little more than occasionally glance at the textbook, and the end of this period found me in a very unsatisfactory mental condition. I used to rely on alcoholic drinks to bring temporary peace of mind. I longed for a better understanding of God, and prayed that I might be led into the truth. Then I went home to England on long leave. My mother persuaded me to attend a Christian Science lecture; and this proved the turning point of my life, as after hearing this wonderful lecture I started to study Science and Health in earnest. My studies brought me wonderful glimpses of the truth. I began to attend Christian Science services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings with my mother. I also sought the aid of a practitioner and was healed of several ailments. Since that time I have experienced other healings, including that of the tobacco and alcohol habits to which I had been a slave for years.
I am very grateful for these healings, but above all I am grateful for the understanding I have obtained of God and man and their relationship. This new understanding has brought me a continuance of peace and prosperity, and has opened up a completely new vision of a future which can contain nothing that is real but the unfolding of good. I am also very grateful for the Christian Science periodicals.—(Captain) John B. P. Seccombe, Thal, North West Frontier Province, India.
