For the many blessings and healings I have both received...

For the many blessings and healings I have both received and witnessed through Christian Science, I am profoundly grateful.

I first knew of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, when a neighbor requested that we read it and tell her what it was about. The book had been sent to her. From the first words of the Preface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," continuing on through the book, it seemed to be that for which I long had hungered and thirsted. So my sister and I at once ordered our own copy from Boston. Healings followed: mental, physical, financial, spiritual. And how inspiring the thought that neither so-called circumstances nor my own ignorance could deprive me of the good which God had so lovingly prepared for me and for all, in Christian Science.

I wish especially to express my gratitude for a recent healing. As I started to walk across a street in the shopping district of a city, a man walking in front of me fell on an icy spot, sliding back against my feet. I landed on my left wrist on the pavement and experienced great pain. Immediately I turned in thought to God, my refuge and help. A policeman assisted me to a near-by hotel, where a Christian Science practitioner was called on the telephone. She began work at once, coming to me later. A surgeon set the several broken wrist bones. I did not look at the place; but he directed that the wristband should later be loosened, owing to a wound above the hand, and he stated that swelling could naturally be expected, and that possible it might be necessary to remove the hand.
