Barbados Herald

Last week's Herald contained the story of a prisoner's desperate attempt to gain his freedom, despite physical deformity and against tremendous odds. One's heart naturally goes out to such a one, for a person's freedom, mental and physical, is dear to him; and the bondage of wrong thinking and doing is even more severe than prison walls.

In contrast to this story there came to me recently extracts from a letter written by one in a similar plight, but who had learned through Christian Science the joy of mental freedom from wrong thinking and the liberating effects of gratitude. Right thinking brings righteousness, and love for God and man is manifested in freedom from sin and disease and their accompanying manifestations; and there is no other real freedom.

I am sending you the Christian Science Sentinel containing this letter. I feel that it must interest every philanthropist, social worker, and humanitarian, as well as prison official; and I hope that you will find a place in your valuable paper to give it the publicity that the other story received.
