I wish to give my testimony in gratitude to Christian Science...
I wish to give my testimony in gratitude to Christian Science and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for making the truth plain about Christ Jesus, the Way-shower.
I had often admired the Christian Scientist for their loving and happy ways, and had tried to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but had not understood it. However, the seed was sown.
I had not been well for a long time, and my daughter, a trained nurse, kept telling me that I should see a doctor, which I finally did. He told me that I had a growth and should be operated on. The more I thought of having this done, the harder it seemed to do. I consulted another doctor and he agreed with the first one. Then I remembered seeing a Christian Science Reading Room, and I went there and was lovingly told about the unreality of error, and shown how to study the Bible and Science and Health. As I did this, day by day, I found myself growing in strength and able to do work which for a long time had been impossible. Then one day another daughter said, "Mother, don't you think the time has come when you should not put off any longer having that operation?" Then I understood. It was just as if it had been raining and dark a long time, and suddenly the sun had come out and all was bright and clear. I stood up and said: "Why should I do such a thing? I am God's perfect child." I realized that I was healed, and from that day to this I have had no need of a material remedy. This was over five years ago, and the trouble has never returned.
