"The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it." On page 3 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read, "his work is done, and we have only to avail ourselves of God's rule in order to receive His blessing, which enables us to work out our own salvation." I am grateful to say that in proportion as I have availed myself of "God's rule," through applying the teachings of Christian Science, I have been greatly enriched. I have experienced healings of fatigue, lack, colds, indigestion, toothache, burns, resentment, and many other difficulties. For the healing of sorrow caused by the loss of my parents at an early age, I am increasingly grateful. Through my school days, a brief business experience, and later as a wife and mother I carried this burden of sorrow, never admitting to anyone save myself that I was disturbed and unhappy. However, error often manifested itself in morbidity. Here Christian Science came directly before my thought for consideration. It was my husband's desire that our little girl attend the Christian Science Sunday School, and it was through this joyous channel that I became interested to lay aside self-assertiveness and earnestly take up the study. I can sincerely state that the unfoldment in consciousness of my true inheritance from an ever present Father-Mother God removed this illusive burden of sorrow. Indeed, the rich blessings of God could never add one sorrow to His finished work; rather do these blessings reduce poor, sorrowful beliefs to their native nothingness.

When I recall a healing of poisoning in our home, I am so grateful for our Sunday school, for the faithful practitioners, and for the many actitivities of The Mother Church. Our five-year-old son drank about one quarter of a glass of denatured alcohol. This had been used to remove varnish and carelessly left in a discarded ginger-ale bottle on the pantry shelf. The child felt no harm from the experience. He was receiving frightened, reproachful words from the maid when I entered the room. His eyes were untroubled as he answered: "That can't hurt me. I know that God is Love." The words in the textbook, page 177, lines 25—7, came to me, and I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner. It was necessry to take my husband to the railway station, and I remember how free we all were. My husband repeated Jesus' words: "These signs shall follow them that believe; . . . if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." I recall that day and the ones immediately following as joyous, fruitful days. I am so glad witnessed this proof of divine protection. Also, I am thankful to know that any seeker can avail himself of "the blessing of the Lord." Our three children have had many healings and daily protection in Science.

This opportunity to express gratitude for Mind's direction and Love's protection naturally offers me the privilege of acknowledging Mrs. Eddy as the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Her example for true Christian living is a continuous inspiration to me and to my family.—(Mrs.) Thelma Crowell Cushman, Evanston, Illinois.
