"Lively stones"

In I Peter we read, "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."

One who visited the stone finishing mills where the building stones for the new Publishing House were being prepared, was impressed by the stonecutter's task as being analogous to the work of a student of Christian Science in fitting himself to become one of these "lively stones."

The stonecutter and the student each has before him a plan or pattern of his work, the Christian Scientist's being the perfect model, man in the image and likeness of God. Each also has his tools with which to accomplish his aim: for the workman, his mallet and chisels; for the student, the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
