Habits

Every thoughtful person knows from his own experience how difficult it seems to break an erroneous habit of thought or action. All Christian Science practitioners know that much of the world's trouble and sorrow comes as a result of harmful habits allowed to develop unchecked and undestroyed.

Habits may be good or bad, trivial or serious, but the word is generally used to denote something troublesome or harmful. However, the way to get rid of a bad habit is to replace it with a good one, by means of active right thinking.

The fundamental teaching of Christian Science is that God, perfect and all-powerful Spirit, is the creator of the perfect spiritual universe and man, and that there is no creator but Spirit, and no creation but the spiritual; that although the mortal, or counterfeit man, sometimes seems to become subject to an evil, material habit, the real, spiritual man cannot become so.
