Yorkshire Evening Post

In your issue of yesterday you gave prominence, in your "Gossip of the Day" columns, to a comment on Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy made by a local clergyman. When speaking of Christian Science he implied that some of its teaching was good, but that it was mixed up with "the ravings of an uneducated hysteric."

If this thoughtless stigma were true it would reflect upon all Christian Scientists, but I assure your readers that it was Mrs. Eddy's ability to demonstrate her profound spiritual teachings in her own life and experience and her healing works which won for her those first students in Christian Science, and the religion she established is winning today the loyal and loving gratitude of an ever growing, worldwide following.

Much abuse and invective have been aimed at this wonderful woman; but there are thousands of people who had been condemned by poverty, sorrow, sin, and disease to lives of helplessness and dependence, who are now living useful Christian lives and rejoicing in health, holiness, and abundance because of Mrs. Eddy's enduring faithfulness to God and her love for mankind.
