The Guidance of Divine Love
God's plan for each one of us is one of orderly unfoldment government by the ever operative law of progress. This is true of the perfect man made in God's image and likeness. And it can be demonstrated by those desiring to apply the teachings of Christian Science.
The first step in proving this proposition is to relinquish human will and every false standard of personal sense. One must be ready to pray to God sincerely in the spirit of the Psalmist, "Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee."
A student of Christian Science was once in the process of solving a problem which seemed unusually perplexing. Yearning for fresh courage and more spiritual understanding, the student remembered these familiar words of Mrs. Eddy from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 454): "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way." Instead of wondering in what direction Love would guide, the student recognized with delight that Love draws those seeking the unfoldment of God's plan in one direction only—closer to divine Love itself. It was seen that willingness to learn more about the nature of ever present divine Love, to express more of Love, and to magnify with increasing gratitude each sign of Love's activity in one's own environment and in the environment of others would liberate one from any sense of a power apart from good. This revelation of Truth brought to the student a healing sense of peace. It became plain that this was progress that was desired. This was Love's plan, fundamental, satisfying, and hence of far greater value than any merely outward sign of activity or achievement.
