Love's Plan

A rose unfolds its petals day by day,
Its growth invisible to mortal eye;
So opens out for us God's ordered way,
Already settled, while we vainly try
To plan our lives.

The good is there, and we need only trust,
And day by day go forward, and rejoice,
Knowing that Love our problems will adjust,
If we but listen for the "still small voice"
To guide our way.

We would not force a bud to open wide,
The rose quite spoiled would be, the petals torn;
While if, in patience, we do stand aside,
A lovely bloom is gradually born
To Love's design.

And when each dainty leaf opes out to light,
We marvel at the perfect flower we see,
Then, just as wondrous, dawns upon our sight,
The true perfection of Love's plan, which He
Unfolds for us.
