In Witness

Although fear and pessimism may argue to the contrary, as Christian Scientists we are persuaded that the action of The Christian Science Board of Directors in undertaking to build a new Publishing House at this time is both wise and timely; and we are grateful for the courage and alertness that prompted this call to justify our faith in God as the source of supply.

We need the faith of Abraham to break with wrong traditions and habits of thought; the faith of Joshua to explore and occupy a new land; the faith that is willing to be tested, and that dares to go forward. Moses saw the promised land from the mount of vision and advanced toward it, and Joshua was called upon to lead the children of Israel into its possession.

Christian Science also presents its promised land. It declares that in the infinite realm of divine Mind are ample possessions; and as this truth is rightly applied it confirms the promise, "The land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God." We note that obedience was a condition of this promise; and according to Christian Science obedience is the first condition required in demonstration. It is divine Mind that constitutes, directs, and enforces spiritual law; and so we must conform to God's law to make spiritual power effective in human experience, and to obtain results that are independent of the so-called laws of mortal mind.
