It is with heartfelt gratitude to God for leading me to...
It is with heartfelt gratitude to God for leading me to Christian Science that I give this testimony. Before hearing of this wonderful truth I had suffered all my life from constipation and chest trouble, and every winter from sore throat and stiff neck; also, for a few years, from pains in my shoulders. In the spring nettle rash troubled me, unless I was very careful with my diet. These difficulties were accompanied by great depression and often ill temper.
It is over nine years since I took up the study of Christian Science, and these years have been the happiest of my life. The ills mentioned have all practically disappeared, and if they do try to appear, the truth soon destroys them. When I commenced to attend the services of a Christian Science church, I often stayed after the service, hungering and thirsting to hear more of the teachings of Christian Science from people who had received great blessings. At this time I was wearing bandages on both legs for support. One knee had been badly injured in an accident, and doctors and electric treatment had been tried, to no avail. When I realized that divine Principle was my only support, I took the bandages off and relied only on God. Later I had to prove this truth when a strike tied up all traffic in the district. I was obliged to walk three miles to the Christian Science Reading Room, in which I was assistant to the librarian, and also three miles back, thus proving I did not need any help but God's.
I am never so happy as when studying the books written by our loved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and I am deeply grateful that she was divinely inspired to give us these messages of Love. My greatest desire is to be a humble follower of this truth. It has indeed changed all my thinking and given me a God who is Love. Since I have been studying Christian Science a great deal of worry has gone out of my life. I worried if other people started in the same line of business that we were in, not realizing that there is only one business—the Father's business—and that there is always enough for all. I saw that it was our duty to be honest, patient, kind, and loving to all who came into our shop, and that we were there as those through whom God would supply their need.
