After studying Christian Science for fourteen years I am grateful to say that God is becoming nearer and dearer to me, and in consequence evil is becoming less real. As a young girl I gave up membership in an orthodox church because its teachings did not satisfy me, but reserved the hope that some day I should find a religion that would be reasonable and understandable. A few years later Christian Science was presented to me when I was about to face an experience in which I could have placed no reliance on material means. It is a joy to acknowledge that this experience was passed through with God's help alone.
Mrs. Eddy says in the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 24), "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)." I am deeply grateful to have realized in some measure that every healing accomplished through the application of Christian Science means the touching of the pure garment of Christ.
Christian Science means everything to me in raising two children. They have been healed of numerous ills, such as measles, whooping cough, chicken pox, colds, and fevers. They are learning to apply Christian Science to their problems. Wrong thoughts are recognized as only false suggestions and are being replaced with good thoughts — God's thoughts. In an accident, when three machines were almost demolished, my husband, the two children, and I were unharmed. Christian Science has protected us in many ways, and I am trying to learn that each day belongs to God for the fulfillment of His purpose, and that His plan for me is far above any human planning. Knowing this every morning, I can freely trust each step to my Father-Mother God, and He will direct my way.
