"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is...
"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, Pref., p. vii). I should like to tell of some of the many blessings I have received through a better understanding of "the sustaining infinite" as taught in Christian Science.
When Christian Science was first mentioned to me, about five years ago, I had had a nervous breakdown which took the form of fits. I went to see a practitioner, and she talked so lovingly to me and was so reassuring and comforting that I knew at once that Christian Science was the one thing I wanted. As "the wakeful shepherd beholds the first faint morning beams, ere cometh the full radiance of a risen day" (ibid.), so the first glimpses of the truth gave me fresh hope and a greater spiritual understanding, for which I am very grateful.
It is now over two years since my healing took place. At first the trouble was very stubborn, and constant study and loving help from practitioners were necessary before this condition was entirely overcome. I can never be grateful enough for the realization of the true man. At the time when I first heard of Christian Science I was not allowed to walk very far. Now I enjoy a sense of freedom and strength, and walk twelve to fifteen miles without ill effects, realizing that man can truly "run, and not be weary; ... walk, and not faint." Many other healings have come to me through my own understanding, among them the overcoming of colds, a sty on the eye, slight scalds, a wart which I had had for many years, and a badly crushed hand.
