It is a wonderful blessing to live in this age, especially after enlisting in God's glorious work. The light of Christian Science came into my home in 1888. I met our pastor of an orthodox church and he mentioned having been healed by the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. He thought it would appeal to us, as we were almost constantly resorting to medicine. My wife at once began the reading of Science and Health and in a very short time was healed. In her daily walk she was a living witness of a new birth. I am deeply grateful for all the strong ties that assist us in the battle to rise above material thinking, and am especially grateful for her beautiful spiritual help in always pointing to God for our real joys that endure forever.
For a number of years I thought I could not get along without spectacles, but now I see clearly to read even very small print by artificial light, without the aid of glasses. I was addicted to the tobacco habit for thirty-five years, but was released from this bondage and was supplied with the real desire for that which is spiritual food.
I am also grateful for a demonstration which brought about a loving settlement with another man. For some time I saw a beam in his eye and a mote in my own, which is contrary to the teachings of our Way-shower; so I just reversed my thought and saw my fellow man in God's likeness. The next morning he called me over the telephone and asked me to come down, saying he would pay certain damages, which he did.
