In his lecture in Zofingen, a professor evinced broad-mindedness in defining his attitude towards Christian Science. Permit me to refer to a few points of W. K.'s report in Number 228 of the Zofinger Tagblatt.

In teaching that God is Spirit and man His image, Christian Science implies that God is cause, and man is the idea, effect, manifestation, or expression of Spirit. They cannot be separated: Spirit without effect or idea is inconceivable; idea separated from Spirit is impossible. Mary Baker Eddy says on pages 502 and 503 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The universe reflects God. ... This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities. ... These ideas range from the infinitesimal to infinity, and the highest ideas are the sons and daughters of God."

Jesus said, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." Christian Science denies the reality of matter. It calls matter a false concept of the mortal or carnal sense. Many years ago Mrs. Eddy wrote: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation. ... Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual" (Science and Health, p. 468).
