Guardian and Gazette
In your last issue, a gentleman speaking at Weston-super-Mare is reported to have referred at considerable length to what he believes to be the teaching of Christian Science. From what is reported, it is evident that he does not understand this subject.
Christian Scientists do not worship Mary Baker Eddy, nor do they ever speak of or even think of her as "the Queen of Angels." Surely it is not in keeping with the teaching of our Master to employ such terms as "blasphemous" and "disobedient woman" in connection with the Founder and Leader of a religious movement who is regarded with respect the world over by thousands upon thousands of grateful people, whose regenerated lives are living proofs that in Christian Science the promise of Christ Jesus is being fulfilled when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
May I say in conclusion that Christian Scientists do not attack other people's religion, and that they hope for similar courtesy toward themselves.
