It was indeed an important day for me when I went to live with some Christian Scientists who by their loving example led me to become interested in Christian Science. Foolish prejudices I had been entertaining vanished, and I commenced to attend the Christian Science Sunday School, where I gained a fundamental understanding of and a love for the Bible and the teachings of Mrs. Eddy. In the seventeen years that have elapsed since that time Christian Science has been an invaluable help to me: it has filled the void caused by the passing on of my parents when I was very young; it helped me in school and when I was starting in business; it has brought health and happiness.

Early in my experience I was healed of weak eyesight and of a tendency to contract colds, grippe, and similar illnesses. Both of these conditions were supposed to be hereditary; but with the improved understanding gained by the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was freed of these troubles. My work for the past thirteen years has required close application, much of the time by artificial light, but I have never felt the need for wearing glasses. With the help of practitioners, and sometimes by my own understanding of Christian Science, I have been healed of such things as blood poisoning in one foot, ptomaine poisoning, warts, cuts, and minor illnesses.

It is cause for great joy to know that our household is being governed by Christian Science, and that all the members rely on it at all times. The children have never tasted medicine. When so-called children's diseases have appeared, they have been met and quickly destroyed. Several years ago our eldest daughter was healed of a serious illness, which the practitioner afterwards said was typhoid fever. The whole experience lasted less than ten days, and the child was normal and well within a week after the healing took place. We have had many experiences of healing in our home, and each one has afforded added proof of the power of Truth to heal, and has been cause for rejoicing and gratitude.
