In 1911 I had my first healing in Christian Science, and...
In 1911 I had my first healing in Christian Science, and since then it has been my only physician. At that time I was healed of varicose veins, with which I had suffered for thirty years, during which I did much of my work with my knee on a chair. A rubber bandage had been worn on one leg for about six years. At the time of my healing a married daughter had come from Alaska to be at my home during childbirth. Being on my feet so much was very painful; it seemed as if I could not stand it any longer, and so I thought it would be a good time to see what was in Christian Science. It had been brought to my notice by my mother and a sister-in-law. I went to a practitioner, who gave me a treatment. When I left her I thought, Well, I don't feel any different than I did before I went in. But the next day it came to me suddenly that I had no pain. And it was true. The difficulty has never troubled me since that time. I have done anything and everything I have wanted to since without the slightest pain. It seemed very wonderful to me to think of having suffered all those years, and yet being healed in so short a time. I have also been healed of what would be called a nervous breakdown.
I am thankful for our literature; no matter what my problems are I can take up a Journal or Sentinel and find the answer every time; thankful also for our dear practitioners who are always ready to help with love and patience when we call. I am a member of The Mother Church, also of a branch church.
(Mrs.) Caroline Gagen, Grandview, Washington.
