One frequently hears the statement among those unfamiliar with the teachings of Christian Science that Science may be all right for nervous disorders and that sort of thing, but not for organic disease or conditions requiring surgery. In an endeavor to correct this misapprehension, and in gratitude to all who so lovingly helped me whilst my healing was taking place, I submit this testimony.
About three years ago, whilst engaged in my work, I took a very heavy lift. Something in my back gave way and I seemed to lose all my strength. Clinging to the truth as we are taught in Christian Science, I carried on with my work for several days, during which time a large lump appeared on the left groin. Eventually I was forced to leave my work. The help of a loyal Christian Science practitioner was asked for, and lovingly given.
In order to comply with the Workmen's Compensation Act of this province I was examined by a doctor, who informed me that the lump on the groin was an organ which had become displaced and that according to materia medica a surgical operation was necessary to replace it, but that frequently such an operation was not successful. Knowing I was a student of Christian Science and would not have medical or surgical treatment, the doctor told me of a case similar to mine which had been healed by Christian Science treatment.
