Almost twenty years ago I was healed of a tumor through Christian Science. A surgeon who was considered an excellent diagnostician stated that this growth was a menace to my life and should be removed at once. I had undergone an operation for tumor a few years previous to this time, but had not been benefited by it, so I decided to disregard the surgeon's advice and try Christian Science. The result was a complete healing, improved health, and the ability to be more active than I had been for years.
Since that first healing many other ailments have disappeared, among them headaches, frequent colds, catarrh, gatherings in the ear, internal disorders, and a very annoying skin disease. Words cannot express my gratitude for these later healings, because they yielded slowly and over a period of years. All the time I was learning to study the Bible and the Christian Science textbook "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to give up all material remedies, and to turn to God in every extremity. As I had been a member of a so-called orthodox church, it was necessary for me to change my entire concept of God and man, to overcome many deep-seated fears, and to clear my thought of superstitions and a false sense of self. All my life I had struggled with a quick temper, resentment, and a disposition to criticize; and not until I learned through Christian Science the truth about the real man was I able to overcome these faults in any degree at all.
Recently, at the passing on of a loved one, I had a beautifully clear sense of God's sustaining and uplifting power. I was given great strength to carry on; and I am especially grateful for this demonstration, because I was enabled to comfort another, who, at the time and later, was threatened with utter submergence in the agony and grief of loss.
