It is with heartfelt thanks that I write this testimony
It is with heartfelt thanks that I write this testimony. I have received so many benefits from the study of Christian Science that it almost impossible to enumerate them all.
Nineteen years ago Christian Science was recommended to me by a doctor. I was suffering from extreme nervous trouble together with a large tumor and complications. After all material means were exhausted, the doctor said, "Try Christian Science; if that does not help you nothing else will." He said he had seen Christian Scientists take cases and seen healings follow where the doctors could do nothing but stand aside and admit they had failed to effect a cure through material means. I knew a lady in another state who was a Christian Scientist, so I wrote to her the following day, and received a prompt answer with the address of a practitioner who lived near my home. I got in touch with this practitioner and she asked me to come to her. I wrote her that it would be impossible, as I had not been out of my home for three years. She then made arrangements to call on me, telling me to come up the street to meet her when she got off the car, which was about a block from our door. My first thought was that I could never meet her, but I did. I watched for the car, and when I saw her, without giving it a thought, I walked out to meet her.
She did not ask about any symptoms, but I began by telling her that the doctor said it was necessary for me to have a very serious operation and that he could not assure me of health even by this means. The practitioner said but one sentence, "You need not accept these conditions as real because God is your Life." She said she would work for me. After she had gone I looked out of doors and everything, even the trees, the grass, the sunshine looked different to me.
