I have been reared in a Christian Science Sunday School...

I have been reared in a Christian Science Sunday School and wish to express my deep gratitude for the solid basis it has furnished me for my thinking.

In a psychology class in college we were told that any healings completed through Christian Science were the results of mesmerism. The so-called logic there presented seemed convincing, but much more convincing were Mrs. Eddy's words on page 103 of her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she writes: "As named in Christian Science, animal magnetism or hypnotism is the specific term for error, or mortal mind. It is the false belief that mind is in matter, and is both evil and good; that evil is as real as good and more powerful." This thought was very enlightening.

In this and other classes, theories concerning the creation and life of man, contrary to the Christian religion, were presented. As a result, many men ceased attending their respective churches; but as material science could not account for the beginning of life, although it claimed there was a beginning, these men found nothing to fill the place formerly occupied by religion. Through an understanding of the true creation and a realization of the unimportance of the theories of creation of mortal man, the figment of a dream, I was able to remain clear in my thinking and honestly loyal to my church. For this fact, for the fact that God has always been my only physician, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for all the activities of the Christian Science movement, I am increasingly grateful.
