A column in your issue of November 18 contains several comments on Christian Science, and I shall appreciate an opportunity to say a little on the subject of spiritual healing.

There is no record that Jesus limited the power of the Christian gospel to cure only particular types of ailments. He healed "all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." It is evident, however, that he considered faith in God's ability to heal an important aid to recovery, because he said definitely to those seeking healing, "According to your faith be it unto you." It is also recorded that on one occasion "he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief." Confidence in material methods of healing necessarily precludes faith in spiritual power.

Christian Science is the reinstatement of the Christianity, including spiritual healing, taught and practiced by Christ Jesus. The same spiritual laws that prevailed then are operative today; and it has been demonstrated beyond the shadow of a doubt that Christian Science can heal broken bones, organic as well as functional disease, and all the various forms of sin. This statement is corroborated by Dr. Lyman P. Powell, an Episcopal clergyman, in his biography, "Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait" (p. 28): "The sincere testimony offered by thousands, and thousands, of responsible people the whole world round that they have found joy and peace, healing and a higher aim in life in consequence of their adherence to this faith must now be regarded seriously. Whatever opinion the reader may hold of the theology of Christian Science, the evidence is now overwhelming that for innumerably many, Christian Science works."
