At the age of sixteen years I became interested in Christian Science through a loving relative. Through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I left off wearing glasses and was healed of a disagreeable cold. As a result of these healings I began to study this wonderful religion more earnestly. While studying the Bible and the textbook, and with the loving help of patient practitioners, I was healed over three years ago of epilepsy, which had been apparent since childhood.

It was while I was living in the West that these attacks became more severe, and it was decided that I should return to my father, who was a physician. It seemed at first difficult to get away from taking medicine which my father prescribed. I knew that this would do no good, for I never had believed in medicine. The Christian Science practitioner who was helping me at this time went to my father and asked him if he thought materia medica could help me. He told her he had never known a case of my kind to be healed through it, and that the only reason he gave me medicine was to quiet me.

Later, due to more serious attacks, I was taken to another physician, who was supposed to be successful with such cases. I was under his care for some time without any apparent help. Going to the Christian Science practitioner, I told her that I did not want to take medicine any longer. It was here I took my stand with God, and threw my medicine away, and soon began to realize my freedom; as Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, . . . shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." And indeed I am free!
