Christian Science is teaching me how to think and how...

Christian Science is teaching me how to think and how to live. Since childhood I longed to commune with God and prayed for His companionship. My impressions of Him, before "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy enlightened me, were so made up of fear and doubt that only twice did I receive answers to prayers, on occasions when the divine will was unreservedly sought. Those two instances were most sacred to me, and impelled my search for a provable knowledge of God and for an association with Him at all times. Being of a devout nature yet unable to "get religion," as did many of my young friends at revival meetings, I lay awake nightly striving to become "converted." This effort continued even after I joined an orthodox church. I tried to be a consistent member, but in course of time was led to withdraw my letter and investigate various religious teachings, hoping to find something to live by. Nothing satisfied me except Christian Science, which is gradually transforming my life.

Among the many blessings enjoyed by me during eighteen years of study are healings of influenza, dengue fever, gas asphyxiation, blood poisoning, and lung trouble, and much improvement in the overcoming of supersensitiveness and impulsiveness, as well as happy contact with students, practitioners, and a consecrated teacher of Christian Science.

Mrs. Eddy's profound spirituality and loving unselfishness are an hourly aid to me in learning better how to obey not only the two "great" commandments, but the others also.
