In 1910 the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...
In 1910 the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was placed in my home, a present to my mother. At that time orthodoxy, public opinion, and materia medica had full sway in my thought. In about five years a circumstance came into my life causing me to take a stand for right, disputing orthodoxy and public opinion, and bringing on me the wrath of many people. I knew that I had done right in the sight of God and took my stand with this conviction. Five years passed, and Christian Science was presented to me by one reflecting the truth of its teaching. In the fall of 1920 I read the textbook and realized that it contained a more reasonable religion than any I had heretofore known. In April, 1921, I removed to a larger city. I visited a Christian Science Reading Room, receiving much loving-kindness; and the librarian told me that practitioners were helpful. I had no difficulty in finding one, and my problem—need of employment—was immediately solved. I have had many beautiful healings, physical, mental, and financial.
I could never in words express my entire gratitude for Christian Science. I can express it in a measure only by living as near as I can to the Principle it teaches. I am so grateful to God for our Way-shower, Jesus the Christ, and for our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
