[Original testimony in German]
With a thankful heart I bear witness to all the blessings...
With a thankful heart I bear witness to all the blessings which I have experienced through Christian Science since 1914.
In my youth I often suffered with rheumatism, and spent many sleepless hours. In later years the malady became aggravated and various remedies were tried for it, but all to no purpose. Then we heard of a wonderful healing: my wife had a friend who was healed of spinal trouble by Christian Science. Since she lived at a distance we wrote asking her how she was healed, and she sent us a copy of the German edition of the Herald, with the message that God heals every ill. I read this Herald, but had little comprehension of it. However, I soon felt that Christian Science contained the truth; so I bought the textbook by Mrs. Eddy, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and went to a practitioner to ask for help, which was lovingly given me. The practitioner explained to me that once the truth was established all else would be wiped away. The fear of sleeplessness which I had had disappeared completely and the suffering abated, although it was now and again noticeable.
After ten weeks it was clear to me that I might proceed without help; that I myself must do more work, as Christian Science teaches; I must cling to God and deny the testimony of mortal sense. The healing was slow, but whenever things were not as they should be I just held fast to the truth which our Leader has revealed, that in reality all is well.
I must also praise God, our creator, for other blessings which we have experienced through Christian Science. Before we were acquainted with this teaching, many times I had to take to my bed for three or four days with kidney and bladder trouble. One time, when I was again quite incapacitated, my wife telephoned a practitioner for help; and when she visited us later all pain disappeared, and I was once more able to work without feeling any discomfort. Blood poisoning and corns also had to yield when I declared the truth; so I am impelled to cry, O Lord, how great is Thy goodness, and Thy mercy is everlasting!
I cannot omit mentioning that with my cattle also Christian Science is my only aid and physician. With help or through my own work every discordant condition among them has been overcome.
Honor, thanks, and glory belong to God for all the goodness and love which Mrs. Eddy has brought mankind through her teaching. How good is the unlocking of the Scriptures, and how much more than bodily healing is the spiritual uplifting! My hearty thanks to the practitioners and to all who have helped me to progress in the path where I have found so much good!—Johannes Wild, Hemberg, Switzerland.
