South-Western Tribune,

It is evident that a clergyman has a wrong impression of Christian Scientists, or he would never have made the statement he did regarding them and Mrs. Eddy in his church news letter last week.

When referring to her discovery of spiritual healing, followed by her three years' close study of the Scriptures in the search for a positive rule, Mrs. Eddy states, "The revelation of Truth in the understanding came to me gradually and apparently through divine power" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 109).

The faith taught by Mrs. Eddy, and now practiced by Christian Scientists, is not based on supposition. The Apostle James said, "Faith, if it hath not works, is dead." Christian Scientists are proving their faith by their healing works. Still, they do not consider this healing Truth as specially theirs; it is for all mankind to share.
