Obedience to Principle

IN working out a problem in Christian Science, it is necessary that the student first take his stand for obedience to God, divine Principle. Thus he finds that the suggestion to resort to human ways and means does not influence him, for correct thinking affords him opportunity to prove, step by step, his ability to reject mortal sense testimony, even though harmonious results may not be at once apparent. Trusting God and obediently listening for the voice of Truth bring their reward; and at the right time, and for the good of all concerned, the solution will appear.

If the problem be one of lack of supply, the truth must be realized that, as God's reflection, man is sustained by the infinite source of all that exists. He is supplied unlimitedly, thus bearing witness to God's unfailing care for His children. All are equally precious in His sight, and there is no unequal division of true substance. In times of seeming depression it is necessary to stand even more courageously for the truth; for the Christian Scientist knows with certainty that supply is inexhaustible, and that there is no lack of any good thing. True activity is unending.

It was positive trust in God that sustained Joseph in his various experiences, as recorded in the book of Genesis, and enabled him to rise above all difficulties and persecutions to a position of great importance where he could help even those who had been responsible for his exile. He said, indeed, "Ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." He thus became the means through which supply was manifested in the midst of seeming lack.
