Mary Baker Eddy

A GENTLE woman, and divinely wise,
She bore the eternal light through praise or blame,
And to the folded hearts of men there came
A burning brightness loosening earthly ties;
Vision and hope she brought to weary eyes,
And by the power of Love restored the lame.
From grief and sin men rise to bless her name
Who knew the healing strength that Love supplies,
And showed the path of Life where all may walk.
Her rising thought revealed immortal Mind,
While in her heart again she heard Christ talk,
Dispelling human fears that made men blind;
And from God's hand she took Truth's proven key,
Unlocked the Scripture's page, and set men free.
