I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science,...
I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science, and for all it has done for me and mine. These few words, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," were so helpful to me when spoken by a friend over the telephone, after I, as a last resort, had asked if she thought Christian Science could help me. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 322), "When understanding changes the standpoints of life and intelligence from a material to a spiritual basis, we shall gain the reality of Life, the control of Soul over sense, and we shall perceive Christianity, or Truth, in its divine Principle."
I had been a chronic sufferer from childhood until I was healed through Christian Science in October, 1927. For years I had turned from one eminent physician to another, seeking relief from a seemingly hopeless case of nervous trouble. We tried osteopathic, chiropractic, orthopedic, and surgical help. I had been in a hospital five times; but everything the physicians and nurses, through kindness and much patience, could do, had failed to effect a cure.
I shall never forget the courage and hope that came into my life when I called a Christian Science practitioner, for with the first treatment I was instantaneously healed. I have also been healed of catarrh, rupture, nervousness, fallen stomach, and a so-called incurable intestinal trouble. The most outstanding healing was that of a sprained body, for which I had been wearing a steel brace for over five years.
